Recorded cassettes are available promoting correct pronunciation of common English words. Accent is not in the purview of this cassette, for example one may have a British, American or Indian accent which is fine - we are only showing which part of the word should be stressed.

The word Deliberate is pronounced DIL' - eberet (stress on the first syllable and the last e is silent.

Premises = PREM' - isis (stress on the first syllable).
Atmosphere = AT '- musphere; 'mus' & not 'mos'
Development = de-VELOP'- ment (stress on the second syllable).
Mythology = me-THOLOGY' the word comes from myth.
Dilemma = d-LIM' -ah; not lyma.
Opponent = a-POE' -nent. 'po' as in post.
Career = ca-REE'-ur. Never carrier.
Bombing or Bomber= the second 'b' is silent - bommer, one syllable.
Immediately = IMME'- jetly; not jeeatly.
Miami, a town in the USA is = MY'-ami; never Mee-ami.
Initiative = e-NISH'-itive.
Tourism = TOO'-a rism
Demonstration = demen-STRA'-shn; stress on middle syllable.
And so on.

The impression that people form of you is largely by the way you speak. A bad pronunciation lowers their assessment of you - perhaps very unfairly, but that is the only yardstick of initial impression.
